    Robert J. Romano, Jr.

Bob Romano has spent nearly four decades exploring and writing about the Rangeley Lakes Region of Western Maine, where he and his wife, Trish, own a long-standing camp. This rugged landscape—home to native brook trout and acrobatic landlocked salmon—serves as the backdrop for his novels and short story collections. While many anglers seek trophy fish in the area’s famed rivers like the Magalloway, Kennebago, and Rapid, Bob finds equal joy in casting to small, wild trout in remote ponds and headwater streams.

His writing has appeared in anthologies such as Christmas in the Wild, Fresh Fiction for Fresh Water Fishing, and Wildbranch: An Anthology of Nature, Environmental, and Place-Based Writing. He contributes regularly to MidCurrent, Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Magazine, and Northwoods Sporting Journal, and his essays have also been featured in The Drake and Fly Culture Magazine

Trish Romano often illustrates Bob’s writing with photographs and artwork, while their daughter, Emily Rose Romano, contributes watercolor paintings to companion products like notecards, adding a personal and artistic touch to the family’s storytelling tradition.
