About the Artist

Joseph R. Tomelleri is a Kansas City-based artist known for his scientifically accurate and remarkably lifelike fish illustrations. After earning an M.S. in Biology from Fort Hays State University in 1984 and briefly working as a botanist, Tomelleri became a full-time illustrator in 1986. He has since traveled more than 150,000 miles collecting and studying live fish for his detailed scientific renderings.
