PLEASE NOTE: ALL ORDERS ARE NOW BEING SHIPPED WITH A DARK BROWN LEATHER BELT (SEE IMAGE BELOW)

Mark Goodwin hand crafts these artisan belt buckles one at a time. All buckles are a neat marriage of 3 to 5 recycled USA metals. Each buckle is made with hand tools, and will be hallmarked by Mark. It is 2.25 inches diameter, and fits belts up to 1.5 inches wide.

    Hand Embossed Sport Fish Buckle

The process starts with sheets of metal. A fish shape is hand formed by gently bending, stretching, and raising the pewter from underneath. Then, acid is used to darken the flat field that surrounds the fish. Next, the shaped pewter is soldered onto cartridge brass to which nickel attachments have previously been soldered. After sawing, filing and sanding, the assembled buckle is polished in stainless steel shot. Then the buckle is coated with warm turpentine and beeswax, dried, and buffed with a soft cloth.

    Hand Cut Sport Fish Buckle

The process starts with sheets of metal. A fish shape is cut out by hand, filed, sanded, and refined. Then it is embedded into a pool of molten pewter that floods over cartridge brass to which nickel attachments have previously been soldered. After sculpting, final filing and sanding, the assembled buckle is polished in stainless steel shot. Then the buckle is coated with warm turpentine and beeswax, dried, and buffed with a soft cloth.

    Hand Cast Sport Fish Buckles

The process starts with sheets of metal, and bronze ingot. Fish shapes are cast from bronze using the lost wax method, filed, sanded, and refined. Then they are embedded into a pool of molten pewter that floods over cartridge brass to which nickel attachments have previously been soldered. In the hand crafted trout design, a gemstone is added by hand setting the stone into a copper bezel. After sculpting, final filing and sanding, the assembled buckle is polished in stainless steel shot. Then the buckle is coated with warm turpentine and beeswax, dried, and buffed with a soft cloth.

    A Beautiful Buckle!

I ordered this buckle after seeing the ad on Midcurrent's website. It arrived a few days ago and it is better looking than I expected and I couldn't be happier. Mark Goodwin is a fine craftsman. These will make wonderful Holiday gifts for flyfishers (both male and female) on your list.
