The Wayward Landing Net is handcrafted in the USA! We believe that the best fly fishing nets are made with traditional craftsmanship and local materials and Wayward is proud to produce handcrafted wood landing nets right here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania using American hardwoods.
This design was hand-drawn by Tina Lewis and cut directly into the wood handle. We went through 4 or 5 different shapes before we settled on what we find to be a great balance of grip and comfort. Our nets are handcrafted with a teardrop shape so that the end of the hoop is large enough to pull in any catch, while the holes of the fish safe rubber net bags are small to avoid losing a smaller catch.
We spend a lot of time picking beautifully grained wood from central Pennsylvania. It is important to stay close by so that we can have a hand in not only picking the most beautiful wood, but also in processing it down correctly. Also, staying local is akin to staying eco friendly.
What is a Wayward Classic Landing Net? The Walnut handle is the centerpiece of the net. Cherry accents marry the Walnut into a Hickory hoop with a Walnut pinstripe.
