About the Image

I love to paint fish because there is a myriad of colors, pattens, and reflected light. I feel the same way about painting water. When a single image provides me with the opportunity to render both, it’s wondrous.

The more fish I paint, the more drawn I am to rendering them from the angler’s point of view, not the friend or photographer who snaps a “hero shot” of the fish being held out of the water. This was my first painting after that realization.
