    About House Fly Fishing

Owner and tier Sean Witman started tying flies and fly fishing in northeastern Pennsylvania in 2013 and instantly developed a passion for both.

Sean has tied thousands of flies for people all over the world and feels extremely fortunate to have developed personal connections with so many dedicated anglers. Sean offers some of his personal-favorite patterns here. Designed for fish-catching and durability, they are meticulously tied and finished to his exacting standards.

    PATTERNS

    Soft Hackle Pheasant Tail

This is by far Sean's most successful nymph pattern for any season or conditions. Trout find this soft hackle collar irresistible. The red thread finish acts as a trigger along with the subtle flash of the chocolate brown ice dub collar. This pattern is truly a universal trout catcher.

    Micro Slump Buster Jig

Micro jig streamers are a must have in any fly box. This pattern is amazingly versatile. On a euro rig this pattern can be jigged, twitched, lifted, stripped, or dead drifted. You can also fish this fly using more conventional methods under an indicator. It’s a real do it all kind of a bug. In high water or deep pools this extra heavy option can be a game changer. This fly roughly imitates other small fish or leeches. It’s measured at rough 1.5 inches in length and has plenty of lifelike movement with its rubber legs, squirrel tail, and squirrel collar.

    Green Ostrich Hare Caddis

This bug was designed to imitate a pupating caddis with some subtle flash, a translucent body, and an overall buggy look, but you’ll find that it works in a variety of waters and situations. It's a pattern that you absolutely must see wet to grasp the full effect.

    Peacock Frenchie

The Frenchie nymph is a proven fish catcher. Sean added his own personal touch to this version with a custom blend of dubbing that has hints of blue, green, and black, with a fluorescent green thread collar for an added trigger. No more losing the tails of your flies to wear and tear with these CDL tailing fibers. This one is built to last or get stuck in a tree. You can fish this as a more subtle and natural pattern to imitate a wide range of mayfly nymphs.

    Wine and Possum

This attractor style pattern has proven itself to be successful on a wide range of waters across the country. The red tag and contrasting colors between the natural possum body and wine-colored rib and ice dub collar grab trouts' attention. Jig patterns like this one are wildly popular in the euro nymphing world but you should never be afraid to fish them on your indicator rigs.
